LEPHALALE - Bob Naidoo (photo) who was initially appointed by the Waterberg Municipality to fill the post of acting Municipal Manager(MM) at the Lephalale Municipality has been permanently appointed as MM by the council at a special council meeting held last Wednesday.
Controversy surrounding the appointment of MM continued however, when Mayor Johanna Mojela opted not to attend the meeting.
It has been reported that Mojela was never in favour of appointing Naidoo. Legislation states that the Mayor of the municipality has to sign the contract when appointing an MM. According to sources close to the council, Mojela was given until Friday last week to sign the contract.
Northern News learned this week that the Mayor did not sign the contract and that the matter was re-directed to the MEC.
It was also announced that K. Motebele was appointed as strategic manager for the municipality and it is reported that he is already hard at work.
